Greeting Jono, Greetings Yoel,
This is my first post after listening for almost a year. Pearls from the Torah is excellent. After I made it through those episodes I discovered Light of the Prophets. Thank you, thank you, thank you both for doing these teachings. Jono, thank you for creating this site to open the Hebrew, Jewish roots of The Parent Faith to christians and muslims. Yoel, thank you for giving us all the time and expertise you have shared with us in the scriptures. And, hopefully you will continue to share your insights with us for a long time to come.
Now, the reason I’m writing at this time is because of the weapons comments and discussion. Being up here in Alaska, people live by their weapons. There are creatures up here that can do you some serious damage, mountain lions, wolverines, wolves and bears-black, brown (grizzly). There are also moose up here that will stomp people to death.
The western media has confused people and created an argument around the so-called “assault rifles” available in certain parts of the country. For clarity, if I understand correctly, an “assault rifle” is a military weapon capable of full automatic fire, machine gun fire. One squeeze of the trigger can release more than one round at once. Every commercially, and legally, sold rifle in the states is semi automatic. Meaning, every single squeeze of the trigger releases a single round. The rifles, beside caliber, are no different than semi-automatic pistols.
Now, this can go into several different and controversial areas. I just wanted to put a little clarity into the discussion about what a true “assault rifle” really is. Unless I’m mistaken, and I’m not talking about politically correct terminology manipulation here, I believe an “assault rifle” is a full firing automatic machine gun. Not a single fire semi-automatic weapon, pistol, or rifle. And, I do not believe a bolt action rifle, no matter what the caliber is, can technically be called an “assault rifle.”
Yoel, you were a military man, am I mistaken here?

re bearing arms, i look at it like this, its not the gun people need to worry about its the person behind it, the same can be said about motor vehicles, a car will not kill you but the lunatic behind the wheel will.
Even though i do not live in the US, due to the fact that i see the US administration as a corrupt and oppressive system that may turn on its own people once its currency collapses, i would want to be armed as well, not only to fight off the lawlessness but the government tyranny that will be after your food etc once the crash does take effect.
