Nitzavim – Deuteronomy 29:9-30:20

Does the Hebrew word “alah” mean oath or curse? What does the phrase, “a root bearing bitterness and wormwood” mean? Is the covenant cut with us today? What does the word “kibbutz” mean? What are the revealed & secret things of Deuteronomy 29:29? “The watered land as well as the dry” or “the drunkard included with the sober”? Circumcised of heart…what does it say in Jeremiah 9:25-26? Why does David pray Psalm 119:18 if the Torah is not too difficult or mysterious?

  1. YoAv ben Porey says

    What say Ye, of this…
Deuteronomy 29:19 “It shall be when he hears the words of this curse ( for ignoring the oath), that he will boast, saying, ‘I have peace though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart —- (lost Hebrew expression) in order that the watered land shall be satisfied with thirst.’

This lost Hebrew expression, “in order that the watered land shall be satisfied with thirst.'” I propose — in order that the “Believer” shall be satisfied with unanswered prayers, i.e. making excuses or tweaking reality to affirm a deceptive faith. As in a prayer for someone’s grave illness: ‘he received perfect healing’ — he died & is now with the Father.’
