Matot – Numbers 30:2-32:42

What is the Torah involving vows and does it differ between man and woman? Why didn’t Balaam the son of Beor die according to his request in Numbers 23:10? What is the relationship between the Midianites and Israel? How can we reconcile Numbers 31:15-18 And Ezra 10:18-19?

    A Vow…
    Judges 11:30-32 What is the greater sin, to break a vow to Yehovah or to murder an innocent daughter? It would appear from the text, that Yehovah accepted the vow (no defeat, no Angel of Yehovah nor a talking ass). This seems like a biblical example of a “Catch 22”, “can G-D great a rock so big the HE cannot throw it?”

    My comment is for YoAv ben Porey: The girl sacrificed her life for Yehova. She was not put to death. Her father mourned because he would not have grandchildren, because she would remain a virgin to minister at the temple staying in prayer, like Anna in the renewed testament. This was living a sacrificial life for God. Yehova DOES NOT ACCEPT HUMAN SACRIFICE!
    Luke 2:36
    And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity;
    And she [was] a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served [God] with fastings and prayers night and day.

    Miriam will all due respect. Why are you against Jepthah paying his vow? The Bible say do no take my name in vain, pay your vows if you make them. So the bible talks about killing Midianites, killing 7 nations greater them. When Isreal is in siege they turn to cannibalism, God tells them they will drink urine, he says the enemy will come in cut open their pregnant women’s stomach open, they will dash their babies against rocks, Jeremiah has no wife, an outcast, stuck in the mire, Jonah gets puts in a fish’s belly. With Abraham slow down with that story, Abraham is intent on killing Isaac, but believes God with bring Isaac back to life. Go with the text don’t let some “teacher” tell you anything. Elijah vs 850, Moses vs 250, I already mentioned Jeremiah do i need to mention more? Do I have to chapter and vs all this? I assume you read the Bible. Read proverbs one thing that is constantly said is be slow with your tongue, or think before you speak. Don’t make vows you are not fully prepared to honor.
