I was wondering about Lev. 19:17. Should we be able to hate our enemies. I understand not hating your brother or kin or tribe. But what about the enemies that they were told to go and wipe out?
Nahemiah, would you please explain to me Leviticus 19:27 and why you believe it does not apply to you. I am a gentile and I am honestly exploring the Torah and what instruction YHVH has for me . as far as I can tell this commandment is for all of Israel. Whether or not this is to be observed by those who believe that Yahshua of the gospels is the Messiah, I do not expect an answer. But if you would explain why you do not keep this commandment it may help me interpret this passage. Also any thoughts on the grafting in of the Gentiles to Israel talked about in the renewed covenant scriptures? How does the Torah, when addressing Israel, apply to the Gentles believers in the one true God?

Jason, Leviticus 19:27-28 does apply to Nehemia. That is why he will not disfigure his head, beard or body when morning the dead.
ok, but how do you know what is applied to “..for the dead..”
it seems to me that it says we are not to make cuts on our body or tattoo ourselves ” ..for the dead..”
but the “..you shall not round off the hair on your temples or mar the edges of your beards..” does not necessarily textually attach itself to verse 28 in the english translations. just as the instructions in verse 26 are not connected to verse 28 either.
how are you making the connection of the commandment about the beard and head to the cutting of ones self and tattooing for the dead?
was there a heathen ritual in which the other nations were rounding off the hair on their temples and/or marring the edges of there beards and/or cutting and tattooing themselves for the dead?
ARE YOU DRAWING YOUR CONCLUSION OF LEVITICUS 19:27 TEXTUALLY OR CONTEXTUALLY?
The legitimate english translations do not suggest that verse 27 is in regards to verse 28, so further explanation of the interpretation from someone who understands the hebrew like Nahemiah would be very much appreciated.

Does the not eating of the fruit of the trees until the 4th year count for everyone or just in the land of Israel? As it says “when you come into the land”…
also how do we know if the fruit we buy at stores is of 4th year of after? This also brings me to the question of sabbath years..do they apply to everywhere or just the land of Israel..and do we know when the next one is? Thanks.
